The Blackmagic Design ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K is a professional broadcast-grade live production switcher built for demanding multi-camera productions. With eight independent 12G-SDI inputs, it can handle HD and Ultra HD video formats up to 2160p60, making it an excellent choice for concerts, corporate events, houses of worship, live broadcasts, conferences, and large-scale event productions. Each SDI input includes built-in re-sync and a low-latency standards converter, allowing cameras and other sources to operate in different supported formats while feeding the switcher.

The integrated hardware control panel gives an operator hands-on control of the entire production, including preview/program source selection, cuts, transitions, keyers, DVE effects, macros, and the T-bar fader. The switcher also provides a professional 10-view multiview, allowing the operator to monitor cameras, program, preview, graphics, and other production sources from a single display.

For graphics and effects, the ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K includes an ATEM Advanced Chroma Key, linear/luma keying, downstream keyers, DVE transitions with 3D borders and drop shadows, two media players, and a built-in media pool capable of storing still graphics and motion clips. This makes it capable of handling everything from straightforward camera switching to sophisticated live event productions.

Audio production is handled internally through a powerful Fairlight-based audio mixer. It provides a 12-input, 2-channel mixer with gain and level control, metering, dynamics processing, a 6-band parametric EQ, compressor, gate, limiter, audio delay, and stereo processing. Two XLR analog inputs provide professional audio connectivity, while embedded SDI audio can be mixed directly alongside the video sources.

The ATEM also integrates directly into professional broadcast infrastructure with 12G-SDI, reference/genlock connectivity, Ethernet control, ATEM Software Control, camera control, talkback support, and multiple SDI program, auxiliary, and multiview outputs. Its combination of a dedicated hardware control surface and software-based configuration makes it equally useful for a dedicated production operator or a larger production team.

In rented applications, this is a serious professional production switcher—not simply a video switcher. It is particularly well suited to multi-camera concerts, corporate events, live streaming, IMAG, conference production, broadcast-style event coverage, and productions where reliable SDI infrastructure and hands-on operator control are important.
